All the little things here make a simple steakhouse a fun night out for everyone. I've heard this is actually a chain, but I've never seen any of the other restaurants, and I quite like this one, on Monterey Highway in San Jose.

Bold Knight does now take reservations, but even without one, the wait is worth it. Once you're seated (preferably in one of the cool wrap-around booths), I suggest ordering the delightful cheese fondue, brought to your table with some fresh warm sourdough bread. I'd come and just eat the cheese fondue and bread if they'd let me. ;)

Their menu has a wide variety of dishes, which is surprising for your typical steakhouse. Their seafood is often good, and they've got a ton of chicken, pasta, and other meats as well, but for my money, it's steak all the way. They've got incredibly reasonable prices, which is a welcome change of pace for Silicon Valley.

Before your juicy steak arrives, you've got a choice of soup or salad. They've got some great soups, but they vary so if all else fails, enjoy a delightful salad (tasty blue cheese dressing). I like their clam chowder quite a bit, but truth be told, I'd be satisfied with just the cheese and bread. ;) The spinach salad with raspberry vinaigrette is outstanding.

The steaks are great - I've always gotten mine exactly as I've ordered (sad that I'm surprised by consistency, eh?). A huge baked potato accompanies the hunk of heated meat (or you can choose rice or fries or vegetables), with exactly as much of your favorite toppings as you'd like. I've never once finished my meal here - the steaks do taste good the next day, thankfully.

This is a fun place to go with just your special someone, or with a group of friends (or even...gasp!... relatives). Just make sure to be hungry when you go!

Food:	6 - good steaks, great cheese fondue. A really nice "meat and potatoes" place.
Ambience:	5 - big comfy booths!
Service:	5 - some waiters are nicer than others, but they're quick with the drinks and bread and such
Overall:	6 - a nice reliable steakhouse with a relaxing atmosphere
